Based on their experience, Skylights Montreal engineers recommend installing double or triple glazing into structural skylights rather than a single glass panel.
Advantages of using glazing in structural skylights include:
1. Energy-saving properties of glazing are far better than that of regular glass. Skylights Montreal employs double-glazing with argon (inert gas) injected between the layers of glass. In some cases, skylight heat preservation properties can be further improved with the “Low-E” technology.
2. Installed in structural skylights, glazing with inert gas prevents vapor condensation, resulting in perfect glass clarity, despite weather conditions.
3. Unlike single layered skylights, double or triple glazing prevents deterioration of the metal structures of skylights, which is especially true for cold weather conditions.
4. Noise insulation properties of glazing also surpass that of regular glass. In some cases, it can be further advanced by increasing the number of layers in the glazing. For instance triple glazing greatly reduces the outside noise.
5. The strength of the glazing is also higher than that of the same single-layer glass. At Skylights Montreal we employ 4-5 layers of for our glazing. All our products are covered by a manufacturer's warranty.
Depending on the clients' needs and desires, Skylights Montreal can manufacture and install various types of glazing; including smoke glazing , mat glazing, colored glazing, and more.
